How commissioning works.

01 / SUBMIT

Tell us about your work.

Share the title, format, release plans and a link. Authors, creators and their representatives are welcome.

02 / AGREE

Know what you’re commissioning.

We assess the fit, then agree a fee, deliverables and timing before you pay or supply a full review copy.

03 / REVIEW

Get an independent verdict.

The review is prepared and published on Critic.co.uk with a clear commissioning disclosure. The fee has no bearing on the rating.

What you can expect.

Clear deliverables.

We agree the reading or viewing scope, written or video format, publication plan, fee and delivery window before the commission starts. A series review will state which episodes were assessed.

An honest verdict.

Every commissioned review is labelled. You can flag factual errors, but commissioning does not give you approval over the opinion, rating or wording. Publication expectations are agreed upfront.

A few fair questions.

How much does a review cost?

Request a quote with the format, word count or runtime, and your target date. We agree the price and exact deliverables before any payment. Books and productions of different lengths require different amounts of work.

Does paying guarantee a good review?

No. We can accept a commission and deliver the agreed assessment, but we never promise a positive verdict or a minimum star rating. Please commission only if you are comfortable with a candid opinion.

Will the review appear on Amazon or Goodreads?

The commissioned service is for editorial coverage on Critic.co.uk. It does not include paid customer reviews on retail or reader platforms, or a guaranteed number of reader ratings.

Can I submit unpublished work?

Yes. Include your planned publication or release date and any embargo. Please send an information page or trailer first. Full review copies, screeners and secure access are arranged after acceptance.

Can publishers, agents and production companies submit?

Yes. We welcome enquiries from the creator or an authorised representative. For multiple titles, describe the slate and the timing so we can agree an appropriate scope.

Can I use the review in publicity?

An attributed excerpt is part of the agreed service. Quotations must reproduce the review accurately and fairly represent its meaning. Any use of the Critic.co.uk branding or video is agreed separately.
